Do you know the eight parts of speech? They are: noun, verb, pronoun, adjective, adverb, conjunction, preposition, and interjection. Articles like “a” and “the” aren’t included in the eight parts of speech at all!
Knowing and understanding the part of speech of a word helps you use it correctly and understand its meaning. The parts of speech are also on the Common Core State Standards. The CCSS require that second graders and older students know the eight parts of speech.
